The Peopies and Cultures Center located at 1400 West 10th Street is hosting The Common Thread of the Laotian Hmong, a visual and documentary exhibition concerning the culture and artistic heritage of a small colony of Laotian textile artists. Gallery hours are from 1-5 daily through March 11.

NOW President Judy Goldsmith will visit Cleveland March 11 as the guest of the local NOW chapters. At 6 p.m., NOW will sponsor a cocktail party and reception for Judy. Admission will be $35, with proceeds going toward a fundraising effort to open a NOW office in Cleveland. After the party. Judy will speak, giving an update on national NOW. Cost will be $10, but no one will be refused admittance because of inability to pay. Judy will also be speaking to the City Club and will appear on the Dave Patterson Show. Flashback, a four-woman band performing swing, jazz and blues from the '30's and 40's will be performing at the Elegant Hog. 23135 Lorain Road in North Olmsted, on Fridays and Saturdays, March 11, 12, 18, 19, 25 and 26. They will also appear at Shaughnessy's, 19729 Center Ridge Road in Rocky River on Thursday and Friday, March 3 and 4, Tuesday through Thursday, March 15, 16 and 17, and Thursday through Saturday, March 31, April 1 and 2. They will return to Brothers Lounge, 11609 Detroit, on Friday and Saturday, April 8 and 9.

Lesbian-connectionist, musician-songwriter Alix Dobkin will appear in concert for one performance only on March 12, 1983 in the KIVA at Kent State University. All women are invited to celebrate the magic that's created by all-women space. A $6.00 donation will be requested at the door. The concert, brought to you by Tenth Muse Productions and Kent Women's Organization, will be signed for the hearing impaired and the facilities are wheelchair accessible. Cleveland Women Working celebrates seven years of successes with their Swing Into Spring celebrity auction at the Hollenden House on East 6th and Superior, Wednesday, March 23, from 5:30-9:00 p.m. All proceeds of the auction and cocktail party will benefit Cleveland Women Working, a non-profit city-wide membership organization of working women dedicated to improving working conditions. On Saturday, March 26, the Women's Coffeehouse will feature music by singer and guitarist Judi Friedman from Oberlin. Judi has performed her original music and other woman-oriented songs at coffeehouses in Oberlin and on the West Coast. This will be her first appearance at the Women's Coffeehouse. The Women's Coffeehouse is held on the fourth Saturday of each month at Center Hall in the Civic, 3130 Mayfield Road (near Lee) in Cleveland Heights. We are open from 8:00 p.m. till midnight, and a $1.50 donation is asked at the door. The coffeehouse is chemical-free, and coffee, tea, juice and snacks are available. All women are welcome. During Victims Rights Week, the Witness-Victim Service Center will conduct luncheon seminars on the topics of sexual assault, child abuse. domestic violence and abuse of the elderly at the Justice Center the week of April 18-22. Since 1910, International Women's Day has commemorated the struggles of women in the workplace, in the home and in society the world over.

On Saturday, April 23. The Cleveland Business and Professional Women's Club (BPW) is sponsoring a Fundraiser Luncheon at Swingos at the Statler. Sarah McClendon, White House and Congressional correspondent since 1944, will be the featured speaker. Proceeds from our Fundraiser will go to the Cleveland BPW Club's Career Advancement Grant, a scholarship fund created to aid the "mature" woman to further her education and/or vocational training. Kate Rand Lloyd, editor-in-chief of Working Woman Magazine, will be the keynote luncheon speaker during the Planned Parenthood Great Lakes Regional Meeting. The 1983 National Women's Music Festival will be held Friday through Sunday, June 3-5, 1983, in Bloomington, Indiana.
